Screen Sharing Troubleshooting
Overview
Screen recording may be required for some exams, depending on the settings chosen by the exam administrator. The browser must be granted permission to record the screen; otherwise, the exam cannot start. Use the troubleshooting steps in this article to resolve common device issues.

Troubleshooting
You may need to attempt one or more of the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. If none of the following steps fix the problem, you may need to try testing on a different device.
Quick Fixes
- Unable to Click "Share": If you are unable to click the "Share" button in the screen capture permission prompt, confirm that you selected your entire screen to share.
- Select the Entire Screen tab at the top. You must share your entire screen, not just the exam tab or browser window.
- Select the preview image of your screen (the selected area will be highlighted in blue).
- Click Share.
Screen Capture Permission Prompt Not Visible: The screen capture permission prompt (pop-up) should appear during the System Diagnostics Test, allowing you to share your screen.
If you do not see the prompt, it is likely hidden behind your primary browser window. Move or minimize the browser window, or swipe up on the trackpad using three fingers to reveal all open windows, to locate the share screen prompt.

Next Steps
Confirm your browser is up-to-date: Older browsers versions may not support screen sharing. Please confirm your browser is up-to-date.
Type "chrome://settings/help" into the browser address bar and press Return. (Alternatively, click the Settings button in the top right; select Help > About "Your Browser".)
Click Relaunch or Restart to install any available updates.
Try a different browser: Proctorio supports Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera. Try a different browser or reinstall your current browser.
