Using the Exam Toolbar

Overview

During the exam, test-takers can view important device information and access different tools from the Proctorio exam toolbar. Some tools and options are available on all exams, such as the chat and zoom functions, but others, like the calculator and whiteboard, must be enabled by the exam administrator.

Toolbar Information and Options

Not all options and tools may be available on your exam.

  • Drag Tool: Click and drag to relocate the toolbar.
  • Live Feed: Regularly check your camera view to confirm your face is fully visible; click the live feed window to hide it.
  • Live Proctor: Indicates if you are being monitored by a live proctor.
  • Battery Life:
    • Green: Full or nearly full charge
    • Yellow: Medium Charge
    • Red: <33% charge remaining; plug in your device
  • Zoom In: Click to zoom in.
  • Zoom Level: Click to reset the zoom level to 100%
  • Zoom Out: Click to zoom out.
  • Calculator: Click to open the on-screen calculator.
  • Whiteboard: Click to open the on-screen whiteboard.
  • Live Chat: Support options depend on whether the exam is live proctored.
    • Technical Support: Default option, available to all test-takers.
    • Exam Support: Available only for live-proctored exams.
  • Break*: Click to request or take a permitted break.
  • Position: Change the position and orientation of the toolbar.
  • Minimize: Reduce the size of the toolbar to free up more screen space.

Whiteboard Instructions

The whiteboard can be accessed from the Proctorio toolbar when your exam administrator has enabled it. If you do not see the whiteboard button, your test administrator has not enabled it on the exam.

Whiteboard Tools

  • Pencil/Draw tool: Draw or select a pencil color.
  • Paint Tool: Change the background color.
  • Text Tool: Type and format text on the whiteboard.
  • Drag Tool: Click, hold, and drag to reposition the whiteboard on the screen.
  • Undo: Undo the last action.
  • Clear Board: Delete all information on the whiteboard.
  • Close: Close the whiteboard tool; closing the whiteboard will not erase your information.

Calculator Instructions

The calculator can be accessed from the Proctorio toolbar when your exam administrator has enabled it. If you do not see the calculator button, your test administrator has not enabled it on the exam.

Basic Calculator

The basic calculator allows you to perform simple calculations.

Scientific Calculator

The scientific calculator allows you to perform advanced calculations using Trigonometric, Algebraic, Trigonometric, Statistical, and Calculus functions.

The graphing calculator allows you to plot graphs and perform advanced calculations using Trigonometric, Algebraic, Trigonometric, Statistical, and Calculus functions.
