Backend Developer
About the Role
As a Backend Developer, you will design, build, and maintain the server-side systems and infrastructure that power our products. You will work closely with front-end developers, product managers, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure back-end services. You will take ownership of API development, database architecture, and system integrations while ensuring that all back-end components meet performance, security, and quality standards.
Management
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust back-end services, APIs, and microservices
- Build and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models for performance and scalability
- Integrate third-party services, APIs, and internal systems as required by product needs
- Collaborate with front-end developers to define and deliver well-structured, documented APIs
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following established engineering standards
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive technical feedback
- Identify, debug, and resolve back-end defects and performance bottlenecks
- Contribute to system architecture discussions and technical design decisions
- Ensure back-end systems adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements
- Monitor system health, respond to incidents, and implement preventative measures
- Maintain thorough documentation for services, APIs, and infrastructure components
- Collaborate with QA to support testing cycles and ensure back-end reliability
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos
- Continuously evaluate and improve back-end processes, tooling, and development practices
Requirements
- Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- More than 3 years of professional back-end development experience
- Strong proficiency in one or more back-end languages such as C#, Node.js, Go, Python, Java, Ruby, or similar
- Solid experience designing and working with both relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, or similar)
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and their core services
- Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth, JWT, and SSO
- Experience with version control using Git and collaborative development workflows
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, including scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization tools, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with caching strategies and performance optimization techniques
- Knowledge of SaaS product architecture and multi-tenancy patterns
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
