Proctorio & Utah State University: New Acquisition of USU’s Exam Scheduling Platform

Proctorio, a leading provider of online, AI proctoring solutions, proudly announces its acquisition of Utah State University’s (USU) online Materials and Testing Services (MATS) platform, originally designed for exclusive use by USU students and faculty. Due to a growing demand for the product by other institutions, Proctorio has taken on the challenge of globalizing MATS and augmenting its current proctoring solutions using USU’s platform.

The initial focus will be to address a three-year backlog of updated features and fixed bugs, as multitenancy is critical for establishing a network of testing centers and live remote proctors worldwide. This acquisition not only brings added convenience and enhanced access to proctored testing through its centralized platform but also allows test-takers to effortlessly schedule and test with certified proctors and testing centers.

Together, Proctorio and MATS will encourage institutions to leverage a combination of live and automated AI proctoring tools while simultaneously offering learners around the world access to both remote and localized onsite testing opportunities. Test-takers will enjoy unparalleled flexibility, as they schedule proctored exams that best suit their individual preferences and circumstances.

The MATS platform enables administrators to upload and securely deliver all essential testing materials to the appropriate end-user. Testing instructions, approved accommodations, reference documents, and exam access codes can be made available directly to the test-taker or a certified proctor based on the selected proctoring method. In short, the platform serves as a nexus to facilitate coordination among institutions, test-takers, and proctors, streamlining the exam administration process.

Proctorio seeks to propel the evolution of online proctoring. This acquisition will democratize access to secure, high-quality online testing and generate greater advancement opportunities for aspiring learners, workers, and professionals.

“Proctorio is enthusiastic about working with USU on this digital learning venture. By combining our online proctoring expertise with MATS, we can offer exam security for both online and in-person exams. This move shows our commitment to providing a seamless, user-centric experience for test-takers worldwide. – Mike Olsen, Founder & CEO of Proctorio

To summarize, Proctorio expects its new venture to yield three significant benefits for all testing stakeholders:

  • Streamlined Testing: Seamless integration with existing testing infrastructure and Proctorio products will expedite implementation for institutions and simplify coordination among administrators, proctors, and test-takers by providing a centralized online scheduling and exam delivery platform.
  • Increased Accessibility: Institutions can offer unfettered access to highly secured exams with expanded proctoring options, making it easier than ever to accommodate test-takers with diverse needs.
  • Enhanced Security: Proctorio is esteemed for its unrivaled data privacy and security practices, and it will uphold those same standards as it begins work on integrating MATS into its proctoring ecosystem. Test-takers can rest assured that their data is secure and that all certified proctors are thoroughly trained and vetted.

As the demand for remote assessment solutions grows, Proctorio remains at the forefront of innovation and continues to drive progress in the online proctoring space. With the acquisition of MATS, Proctorio hopes to further prove that exam accessibility and exam integrity are not mutually exclusive ideals.
