Proctorio, Global Leader in Online Proctoring, Reveals New Logo and Manifesto

Proctorio has made news recently with its cutting-edge mobile technology and prestigious educational partnerships. Along with these innovations in online proctoring, Proctorio is announcing a new logo and tagline that embody the company’s technological advancement and design thinking.

Mike Olsen, founder and CEO of Proctorio, discussed the origins of Proctorio’s original webcam logo.

“The old logo was a symbol of security and vigilance and, while we continue to emphasize exam security, this new branding better represents the unique combination of simplicity and sophistication that is Proctorio,” Olsen said. “Proctorio’s ability to proctor online exams while protecting student privacy is unmatched, and we will continue to develop new features that allow institutions to protect academic integrity without sacrificing student privacy or data protections.”

The new Proctorio logo is a little more abstract, and it features not one, but three webcams. The colors evoke mental activity, growth, knowledge, and elegance. The webcam shapes form a letter “P” to represent the company name.

“This new logo is an opportunity for us to update our brand while highlighting the design elements that distinguish Proctorio from other online proctoring solutions,” said Gary Ruiz, Director of Media for Proctorio. “We have the most advanced software in the world for validating identities, securing exam content, and protecting academic integrity in online exams, hands down.”

Along with its new logo, Proctorio revealed a new tagline, “Exam Integrity by Design.” Proctorio’s proctoring solution is unique because its design places stakeholders at the center, with engineers and designers addressing human concerns throughout the design process.

“We deploy design thinking throughout our organization, workspaces, and software,” said Proctorio Director of Education Judson Garrett. “Design thinking allows Proctorio to place instructors and students at the center of product development, which is evident in every facet of our software and customer support.”

Proctorio’s new look was developed with the help of Fervor Creative in Scottsdale, Arizona. Fervor is known for its dexterity in shifting subjective input into objective goals. Don Newlen, Owner of Fervor Creative, described working with Proctorio on the logo as “a unique opportunity to transform how a brand is represented at a pivotal moment in its development.” Newlen said the result displays Proctorio’s mission, vision, and strategy “in a unique and vibrant manner.”

The company’s mission, vision, and strategy are outlined in the Proctorio Manifesto:

  • Mission: To expand opportunities for the development and demonstration of human potential.
  • Vision: A more just and equitable world through the increased availability of quality education.
  • Strategy: Protect academic integrity in all test environments and develop new technologies to support innovation in education and beyond.

“Proctorio stands for academic integrity and increased educational opportunities. We were able to build consensus and trust with Proctorio’s team through a non-linear, collaborative creative process,” Newlen added.

The older-style webcam was affectionately known around the Proctorio offices as “Kenny,” as it bore a strong resemblance to a favorite cartoon character that routinely suffered an untimely demise. This distinctive webcam image was popular at conferences and inspired its fair share of imitators.
