Proctorio named to the Forbes America’s Best Startup Employers 2021
We’re excited to announce that Proctorio has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Startup Employers of 2021, placing second for Arizona organizations, sixth in the Education & EdTech category, and 133rd overall. The past year presented immense challenges for test takers around the world and we’re proud of how our team rose to the challenge to provide high-integrity learning experiences for more than 1,200 of the world’s top institutions.
We value this recognition because Proctorio is committed to offering a supportive working environment that fosters growth and leadership as we increase access to education regardless of a test taker’s location. Ed-tech professionals understand that our forward-thinking approach to data privacy and reliance on third-party validations have created the most secure remote proctoring solution available on the market at a time when online learning needed it most.
While working toward these goals, we experienced a 28% increase in employee headcount over the past year. By increasing our staff numbers, we successfully navigated a sudden surge in demand for remote proctoring due to pandemic-related distance learning and experienced a 900% growth in exams proctored between April 2019 and April 2020. In the 2020 calendar year, we facilitated more than 20 million exams. Even though our company expanded, we held onto our 115-employee maximum size and scaled our high-quality offerings without experiencing employee burnout. The Proctorio team is 62 percent women and over half of our team is from countries other than the United States, including Brazil, China, Germany, India, Mexico, and Serbia. We aim to always prioritize diversity of all kinds as a core value as the company expands.
In addition to his work internally to foster a collaborative environment, our Founder and CEO, Mike Olsen, has become a prominent figure in the Phoenix business community and was recently named a member of the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council to promote the interests of small businesses to policymakers in Washington, DC.
