Our Commitment to Our Principles

To our valued partners, customers, and the wider Proctorio community,

We have always been proud to stand at the forefront of creating a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for our users. Our platform is dedicated not only to upholding the highest standards in security and integrity but also to ensuring that every individual feels respected, understood, and treated fairly.

Today, I want to address a recent decision we made, one that reiterates our unwavering commitment to our values.

In light of the findings from the Dutch National Human Rights Institute, which highlighted issues regarding Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’s (VU) handling of a student's racial discrimination complaint, we have chosen to terminate our Software-As-A-Service Agreement with the VU. The Institute's judgment concluded the VU's response to the student’s complaint was neither sufficiently expeditious nor diligent. Although the judgment did not find the VU guilty of racial discrimination through using our services, it brought attention to the carelessness in their internal processes concerning a significant matter.

Our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and internal policies, which are binding for all our partners, express our non-tolerance for discriminatory conduct of any form. Respect for diversity and inclusion is a cornerstone of our business, and we are committed to ensuring that our platform remains free from any form of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.

We recognize the gravity of this action, and it is never easy to part ways with a long-standing partner. However, the severity of the matter and our commitment to our values leaves us with no alternative but to stand firm on our principles.

For those who may be concerned or have questions, please understand this decision was made after careful consideration of all aspects. It stresses our dedication to ensuring the best for our community, users, and partners. We will always prioritize the ethics that drive our platform and will continue to work diligently toward a future where every individual feels respected, heard, and treated equitably.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Sincerely,

Mike Olsen, Founder & CEO.
