Proctorio started back in 2013, when we had nothing but a small office space, a handful of employees, and desks made of pallets built by none other than the founders in the parking lot.

Nowadays, we have a pretty awesome space in Old Town Scottsdale, where we believe in a creative work environment, one that lends itself to the expression of the individual and the collective. We provide our employees with engaging surroundings, a zen garden, and a playful atmosphere. Not only have we evolved in this sense, but the company itself has grown immensely.

In honor of Proctorio's 10th anniversary, let's walk through the story of how we've become the industry-leading online proctoring company we are today.

At the beginning, online degrees faced credibility concerns. The general public believed all online learners were cheaters, and employers were hesitant to trust the skills and knowledge of those presenting online degrees. We were determined to build something affordable that could help change the narrative. Online proctoring existed a few years before us, but it was expensive and didn't scale. Proctorio came to be as a product that Universities could rely on to help validate the authenticity of online degrees. We wanted to make sure that online learners could earn the trust and recognition they deserve and dissolve the "cheater" stigmatism that was automatically applied just because they did "online school."Having just started the company, we were excited to launch our product and put it to the test. Soon after launching, we were able to sign our first two clients. Their early support gave us a boost of confidence and motivation to keep striving for success. After a few more, we were able to rent that initial office space (the one with the pallet desks), and eventually, we moved into our current office, where dreams became a reality.

Every company has its' ups and downs, and we are no exception, especially during the heat of COVID-19. Students around the world were put online and our team was swamped with an intense workload.

Although it was tough, we powered through it and I wouldn't change a thing. My team and I have grown so much since then, and we're forever grateful for every learning opportunity.

Proctorio has grown to include two offices in Europe. Since we started, we have proctored over 90 million exams worldwide. We've been able to impact education and will continue to bring an accessible and equitable solution to students everywhere.

In the future, I hope Proctorio can be understood as a tool used to ensure academic integrity, one that helps LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse students, professionals, exam administrators, working parents, and many more. We want to show the world who we are, and why we care about making education accessible to anyone and everyone.

Most businesses don't make it to the 10-year mark and I'm so proud of what we've achieved here. Although we've had a lot of ups and downs along the way, we made it, and we aren't going anywhere.
