We founded Proctorio eight years ago with the intention of building software that would fix the remote proctoring industry and provide an online test-taking environment with maximum privacy and integrity.

As the team is celebrating Proctorio’s eighth birthday, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the milestones that our company has hit since its founding. In the beginning, we launched with Zero-Knowledge Encryption, a methodology that ensures only institution-approved individuals have access to the encryption keys needed to decrypt exam recordings. Fast forward to today and we’re serving 2,500 partner institutions around the world and have proctored over 35 million exams since inception (25+ million of which were proctored since April 2020!)

Our next big milestone will be moving to a new office space in May to accommodate our growing staff. Our 124 employees will have plenty of space and resources to provide the best support for our partners and develop industry-leading solutions.

The new office was also designed to generate more energy than the building will use! The system being installed will produce an average of 156 megawatts a year. To put that in perspective, an average house uses 18,000 kilowatts a year. This system can power almost nine houses a year!

As part of our relocation, we are also donating the office hardware from our previous space to local organizations so that our tools can serve another purpose in aiding people to accomplish their best work each day and achieve their highest professional potential.
